Maragatha Lingam in Tiruchengode

ЁЯМ┐ About the Maragatha Lingam in Tiruchengode

* The Maragatha (Emerald) Lingam at Tiruchengode is a rare, self-manifested form of Shiva Lingam that devotees can see only during the Tamil month of Margazhi (mid-December to mid-January).

* This special darshan event happens once a year in Margazhi and attracts many devotees because outside this period the Emerald Lingam is usually not visible for darshan.

ЁЯУЬ Special Darshan (Margazhi) Timings

During Margazhi month, the temple arranges special timings to worship and view the Maragatha Lingam:

ЁЯХС Maragazhi Special Darshan Timing (Typical)

*3:30 AM – 7:00 AM — Maragatha Lingam darshan & abishekam* on the hill temple.

ЁЯЩП Devotees are *generally allowed in this time window* to see and participate in the special early-morning pujas dedicated to the Emerald Lingam.

Note: Times can vary slightly depending on the year and temple announcements, so you might want to check locally before you go.

ЁЯЫХ Temple Where It Happens

Arulmigu Thiru Ardhanareeswarar Temple – This is the famous hill temple in Tiruchengode where the Maragatha Lingam darshan takes place. The temple generally opens daily for regular worship as per standard timings (e.g., morning & evening sessions), but the Margazhi special darshan of the Emerald Lingam happens only in the early hours as noted above.

ЁЯХЙ️ Regular Temple Timings (General)

Even outside Margazhi month, the temple has standard darshan times like most South Indian temples:
• **Morning:** ~6:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• **Evening:** ~4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
and **multiple daily pujas** like Kalasanthi and Sayaratchai follow regular schedules.

If you plan a visit specifically for the **Maragatha Lingam darshan**, aim to come **during Margazhi (approx mid-Dec — mid-Jan)** and be prepared to reach the temple **early in the morning (around 3:30–7:00 AM)** for the special darshan hours.
